LPG Prices Slashed Again: Commercial Gas Cylinder Becomes Cheaper, 5kg Cylinder Also Gets Price Cut
India has started the month of August with welcome news for businesses and LPG consumers as oil marketing companies have announced another reduction in the prices of commercial Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) cylinders. This is the second consecutive monthly price cut, bringing relief to hotels, restaurants, caterers, street food vendors, and other commercial establishments that depend heavily on LPG for daily operations.
Along with the reduction in the 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder, the price of the 5-kg Free Trade LPG (FTL), popularly known as the "small LPG cylinder," has also been lowered. However, there has been no revision in the price of the 14.2-kg domestic cooking gas cylinder, which continues to be sold at the existing rate. The latest prices came into effect from August 1.
Commercial LPG Cylinder Gets Another Price Cut
The latest revision has brought significant relief for commercial users across the country. Depending on the city, the price of the 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder has been reduced by around ₹192 to ₹209 compared to the previous month. This follows a similar price reduction announced in July, making it the second straight monthly decrease in commercial LPG rates.
The move is expected to reduce operational expenses for businesses that consume LPG in large quantities. Restaurants, hotels, tea stalls, catering companies, bakeries, and small food vendors are among the biggest beneficiaries of the latest revision.
5kg LPG Cylinder Also Becomes Cheaper
In addition to the reduction in commercial cylinder prices, oil marketing companies have also lowered the price of the 5-kg Free Trade LPG cylinder by ₹13. Following the latest revision, the retail price of the 5-kg cylinder in Delhi has been fixed at ₹808.50. This compact cylinder is widely used by small businesses, temporary food stalls, and consumers who require portable LPG solutions.
Domestic LPG Prices Remain Unchanged
While commercial users have received another round of relief, household consumers will continue to pay the same amount for domestic cooking gas. Oil companies have not announced any changes in the price of the standard 14.2-kg domestic LPG cylinder during the latest monthly revision.
As a result, families using domestic LPG cylinders will not see any immediate change in their monthly cooking gas expenses.
Businesses Expected to Benefit
The reduction in commercial LPG prices is likely to provide financial support to businesses operating in the food and hospitality sectors. LPG is one of the biggest recurring expenses for restaurants, hotels, cafes, cloud kitchens, sweet shops, and catering services. Lower fuel costs may help these businesses manage operating expenses more efficiently, especially at a time when input costs remain under pressure.
Small eateries and local vendors are also expected to benefit, as lower fuel costs can improve profit margins and reduce overall business expenditure.
Monthly Price Revisions Continue
LPG prices in India are reviewed regularly by oil marketing companies, generally at the beginning of every month. These revisions are influenced by several global and domestic factors, including international energy prices, import costs, exchange rate movements, transportation expenses, and overall market conditions.
Although global crude oil prices and geopolitical developments continue to influence the energy market, the latest revision has brought some relief to commercial LPG users for the second consecutive month.
What Consumers Should Know
The latest LPG price revision mainly benefits commercial consumers, while domestic users will continue paying the existing cooking gas rates. Businesses using 19-kg commercial cylinders and 5-kg FTL cylinders can immediately take advantage of the revised prices, which became effective from August 1.
Consumers can check the latest LPG cylinder prices applicable to their city through their respective oil marketing company or authorized LPG distributor, as rates may vary slightly due to local taxes and transportation charges.
With commercial LPG prices witnessing another notable decline, businesses across India are expected to enjoy lower fuel expenses, providing a welcome boost as they continue their day-to-day operations.
